H

al Hollander began his professional music career in the Chicago area as a drummer for the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, and the James Cotton Blues Band. Moving back to his home state of New Jersey, he switched to bass and guitar, and worked with The Turtles, Drifters, Bo Diddley, Ike and Tina Turner, and Patty LaBelle. He then joined the JOYFUL NOYZE where he met Clarence Clemons, who recently played on several tracks of KICKBACK's new CD. The NOYZE became the house band for Richard Naders Rock & Roll shows at the Philadelphia Acadamy of Music, and appeared in the feature film, "Let The Good Times Roll". Along with friends Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, and Bruce Springsteen's Steel Mill they helped develop the Jersey Shore sound at clubs like the Stone Pony, Chatterbox, and Wonder Bar, earning them a place in the New Jersey Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

T

he second stage of his musical career came in 1994 after moving to Florida, where he first formed KICKBACK.  Using two female vocalists, the trio quickly rose to the top of the West Palm Beach Music scene .  Within 2 years, Florida Lifestyle Magazine named KICKBACK "The Hottest Band In West Palm Beach" while the Delray Times called them "Florida's Ultimate Party Band." Eventually, Hal replaced one of the vocalists with saxophone great, John Michalak, and this group became the house band at O'brians Restaurant in Juno Beach.

When Michalak left to join K.C and The Sunshine Band, and later Julio Iglesias, Hal replaced him with multi-instrumentalist, Valerie White.  In time, Kickback  became the duo, Hal and Valerie.  Since 1998, they have performed at Sunfest, and the Clematis 500; they've headlined blues night at the Miller Light Offshore Racing Festival, the Miami Boat Show, the Bahama's Big Gun Fishing Tournament, as well as conventions, reunions, and benefits. They were invited to perform at Bluesfest in New Orleans, and were chosen as the band for the "Dream Wedding" of CBS news anchor, Chandra Bill, at the Kravis Center.

hen a larger show group is necessary, they add additional talented musicians, such as Donna Petersen Jester (of The Fabulons), Bambi Bala, Violinist Nicole Yarling, Keyboardist Traci Batten, and others. Kickback The Show is versatile enough to entertain any type of function, and has done so at The Kravis Center, Turnberry Isle, Ocean Reef in Key Largo, as well as The Coral Sky Amphitheatre, and other large venues.

The two play most weekends at Ben 's Steak House in LakeWorth, and Sunday afternoons at The Banana Boat in Boynton Beach, and are known for playing the best dance music around.
